Where this career can take you

  1. 01Care worker

    £20,000 to £25,000 a year

    Supporting people with daily living, personal care and keeping records. Most people start here with a Level 2 qualification and on-the-job training.

  2. 02Senior care worker

    £24,000 to £29,000 a year

    Leading a shift, mentoring newer staff and taking responsibility for care plans. Usually needs a Level 3 qualification.

    £22,000 to £30,000 a year

    Looking after the physical and mental wellbeing of adults or children living in care settings.

  4. 04Care home manager

    £25,000 to £55,000 a year

    Running a service — staffing, budgets, CQC compliance and quality of care. Normally needs a Level 5 leadership qualification.
