The cost of the course is £2,500 with a deposit of £300, if you wish to pay upfront.

Entry requirements
All learners applying for this job should be at least 16 years of age, and have a good understanding of written and spoken English. Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement as they will need to show competence in both knowledge and skills. Learners without a recognized Maths and English qualification at Level 2, including functional skills, will be required to achieve this prior to completion of the certificate. As a competency-based qualification, it’s important that all those undertaking the Level 5 Diploma are in a role where they already undertake care management duties. However, employers can be flexible by delegating managerial tasks, secondments and other development opportunities to ensure the full scope of the qualification can be completed.

Course units (6)
Mandatory units
- Use and develop systems that promote communication
- Promote professional development
- Champion equality, diversity and inclusion
- Develop health and safety and risk management policies, procedures and practices in health and social care or children and young people’s settings
- Work in partnership in health and social care or children and young people’s settings
- Undertake a research project within services for health and social care or children and young people
Learners complete 30 mandatory credits and at least 60 credits from one approved pathway. The pathway and units are agreed for the learner’s role.
How you will learn
You will be taught 1 day a week for the duration of the course (12-18 months). The timeframe can vary, but usually this qualification takes between 12 to 18 months to complete. For those who have already completed the Level 4 Certificate in the Principles of Leadership and Management for Adult Care, a shorter timeframe of around six months may be possible.
Assessment
The range of assessment methods will not only test knowledge, but proven workplace abilities. Assessment methods include portfolio of evidence, direct observations and witness testimonies.
Work placement
Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement as they will need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
