Who is this course for?

Experienced teaching assistants who want to progress in their careers and take on more responsibility in the classroom.

Fees and funding

Course Fee: £1000. Pay in full or pay a £300 deposit and spread the remaining balance in interest-free monthly installments. Advanced Learner Loan available.

Apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the full cost of the course (subject to eligibility). Advanced Learner Loans are government-funded and not based on income or credit checks.

Entry requirements

Are aged 18 or over. Are currently working or volunteering in a school setting (at least 12 hours per week). Have experience supporting teaching and learning. Have good written and spoken English skills to complete assignments.

  • Promote positive behaviour and pupil engagement
  • Support pupils with special educational needs (SEN)
  • Assist with planning, delivering, and reviewing learning activities
  • Develop strategies for supporting literacy and numeracy
  • Understand the responsibilities of a HLTA role within a school

How you will learn

This course is delivered through live online classes, held once a week with a qualified tutor.

Assessment

A portfolio of evidence based on your real work in school, Written assignments, Observations of your practice in your school setting, A final professional discussion.

Work placement

Currently working or volunteering in a school setting (at least 12 hours per week)
