The aim of the Level 2 Diploma in Early Years Practitioner qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0-5 years.

Who is this course for?

Anyone over the age of 16.

Fees and funding

The cost of the course is £1000 if you wish to pay upfront or pay a deposit of £300 and spread the cost with interest free monthly payments

Entry requirements

Must have at least GCSE English grade D Or Level 1 in English Functional Skills Learners without GCSE or Functional skills can enrol on our Functional Skills course alongside the Early Years qualification. Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement to show competence in both knowledge and skills. We recommend learners complete 250 placement hours whilst undertaking this qualification.

  • Equality, diversity and inclusive practice in Early Years Settings
  • Safeguarding, protection and welfare of babies and young children in Early Years Settings
  • Understand how to support children's development
  • Support care routines for babies and young children
  • Support the planning and delivery of activities, purposeful play opportunities and educational programmes
  • Promote play in an Early Years Setting
  • Support well-being of babies and young children for healthy lifestyles
  • Support babies and young children to be physically active
  • Support the needs of babies and young children with Special Educational Needs and Disability
  • Promote positive behaviour in Early Years Settings
  • Partnership working in the early years
  • Support the needs of the child in preparing for school

All 14 units are mandatory.

How you will learn

The course is 9 months long. 1 day a week of face to face learning at the college or online.

Assessment

Assessment is by portfolio of evidence and work based observation over the duration of your study.

Work placement

We recommend learners complete 250 placement hours whilst undertaking this qualification.

  • NCFE CACHE Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner qualification
