Who is this course for?

Fitness professionals who want to work with clients referred by healthcare professionals, supporting them with tailored exercise programs.

Fees and funding

Pay £1,000 upfront or choose to spread the cost with 0% finance. Deposit: £300 required to secure your place, with the remaining balance split into interest-free monthly payments.

Funding

Or you can apply for an advanced learner loan to cover the cost of tuition, which you will only be required to repay once you are earning at least £25,000.

Entry requirements

Have completed a Level 2 Fitness Instructor or Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification. Are 16 years or older. Have a good level of English.

  • Assessing clients’ medical histories and adapting exercise plans accordingly

Course units (6)

Mandatory units

  • Planning exercise referral programmes with patients
  • Understanding Medical Conditions for Exercise Referral
  • Professional Practice for Exercise Referral Instructors
  • Instructing exercise with referred patients
  • Anatomy and physiology for exercise and health
  • Applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme

All six units are mandatory.

How you will learn

Blended learning. Theory components are completed online typically taking 8 weeks or less. Practical assessments will be held at our training centre.

Multiple-choice exam, Written assignments, Practical assessments, Case study based on real-world scenarios.
